Service Biography

Charles Joseph Moniqui was born at Ormstown, Quebec, on 2 June 1895. A machinist with three years of prior militia experience, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and attested at Montreal in November 1917. He went overseas to England in 1918, where his service included the 10th Reserve Battalion and a period of treatment at the Canadian Special Hospital at Witley. He later passed through demobilization organizations at Buxton and returned to Canada. Moniqui was discharged at Quebec on 11 September 1919 on demobilization.

Notes

At recruitment he was single, Roman Catholic, a machinist, and had three years of prior militia service. He was 5 ft 5½ in tall, weighed about 127 lb, had a 33-inch chest with 2-inch expansion, brown eyes and dark-brown hair. His file records treatment at the Canadian Special Hospital, Witley, in May-June 1918 and later states that he had no disability on leaving the service.

Additional Next of Kin Notes

His aunt, Marie Moniqui of Ormstown, Quebec, was named as next of kin. The personnel card later records a notification address for Mrs. Amelia Moniqui at 35 Belgrave Road, Earlsfield, London, England. The family form states that his parents were not living and that he had no wife or children.
