Service Biography

James Bryson Reid was born at Ormstown, Quebec, on 9 August 1897. A mechanic living at Trenholm, Quebec, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and joined the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment at Montreal on 10 July 1918 as Private 3086502. He transferred the same day to the Canadian Engineers and later served as a Sapper with the Engineer Training Depot. He was discharged at St. Johns, Quebec, on 15 August 1918 at his own request to enlist in the Royal Air Force.
