Service Biography

Arthur Leduc was born in Valleyfield, Quebec, on 11 October 1894. A painter and single when called up under the Military Service Act, he joined the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment at Montreal on 21 June 1918 as Private 3163769. He transferred to the Canadian Engineers in July and went overseas in August 1918. After arriving in England he served through the Canadian Railway Troops Depot at Purfleet and the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion. He returned to Canada in June 1919 and was discharged at Montreal on 4 July 1919 on demobilization.

Notes

At call-up Arthur was recorded as 5 ft 4 in, 117 lb, chest 33 in minimum / 35 in maximum (2 in expansion), medium complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. His 1919 leaving-service examination recorded 5 ft 2 in and 131 lb; the structured physical fields retain the enlistment/call-up measurements. A slight sight defect was noted in 1918 but was not sufficient for rejection.

Drafted under the Military Service Act, Arthur Leduc joined the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment at Montreal on 21 June 1918. He transferred to the Canadian Engineers at St. Johns on 15 July 1918, embarked from Sydney on 27 August, and arrived in England on 9 September. At Purfleet he was taken on strength of the Canadian Railway Troops Depot, then transferred to the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 11 October 1918. He returned to Canada in June 1919 and was discharged at Montreal on 4 July 1919 on demobilization.
