Service Biography

Joseph Oscar Majeau was born at Saint-Chrysostome, Quebec, on 31 July 1895 and worked as a farmer. Drafted under the Military Service Act, he attested at Montreal on 17 July 1918 and served as a Private, regimental number 3167479, with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. His service was in Canada. He was discharged at Montreal on 5 February 1919 as part of demobilization.

Notes

Majeau was single, Roman Catholic and a farmer. He was born on 31 July 1895 at Saint-Chrysostome, Quebec, where he was also living when called up. His father, Delphis Majeau, was his next of kin. The recruit form records no Active Militia membership and no previous military or naval service. The 5 August 1918 medical examination recorded height 5 feet 6 inches, weight 129 pounds, chest 31 to 33 inches, medium complexion, grey eyes, brown hair and good physical development; he was placed in Category A2.
