Donat Lemieux was born at St. Chrysostome, Quebec, on 6 July 1896. A single farmer, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and joined at Montreal on 23 August 1918 as Private 3167473 with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. His service remained in Canada. On 23 August 1918 he made a military will leaving his property to his father, Amedee Lemieux. He failed to report on 26 March 1919 and was struck off strength as a deserter effective 15 April 1919.
