Service Biography

Emile Phenix was born on 12 November 1895 at Sainte-Martine, Quebec. A farmer and Roman Catholic, he was single and living at Sainte-Martine when he was drafted under the Military Service Act. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Montreal on 29 July 1918 and served in Canada as a Private with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. In early 1919 he was released under the Farmer's Leave demobilization procedure and struck off strength at Montreal.

1918-07-29 — Drafted under the Military Service Act, medically examined Category A2, and joined 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment.
1919-01-26 — Demobilization order issued under the Farmer's Leave procedure, directing him to present by 31 January.
1919-01-31 — Completed the Farmer's Leave release documentation; the Last Pay Certificate accounts for his pay through this date.
1919-02-08 — Struck off strength under the Farmer's Leave demobilization procedure.

Notes

At medical examination he was 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 123 pounds, with a 35-inch minimum and 37-inch maximum chest measurement. He had brown complexion, brown eyes and brown hair and was classified Category A2.

Drafted under the Military Service Act and joined the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment, at Montreal on 29 July 1918. His surviving file documents service in Canada only. In January 1919 he was ordered to report for demobilization under the Farmer's Leave procedure and was subsequently struck off strength at Montreal.
