Service Biography
Elzear Vinet was born on 16 January 1891 at Mellocheville, Quebec. A single Roman Catholic shoemaker, he enlisted at Montreal on 13 December 1916 as Private 2002089. He served in England and France and joined the 22nd Battalion in the field in March 1918. In April 1918 he was wounded by shell gas and evacuated through hospitals in France and England. After recovery he continued service in England, returned to Canada aboard S.S. Olympic in January 1919, and was discharged at Montreal on 7 February 1919 on demobilization.

Additional Service Notes
Elzear Vinet enlisted at Montreal on 13 December 1916 as Private 2002089. He served overseas in England and France with the 178th Battalion, 10th Reserve Battalion, 150th Battalion and 22nd Battalion. He joined the 22nd Battalion in the field on 14 March 1918. On 10 April 1918 he was recorded wounded by shell gas in the field and was admitted to the 7th Canadian Casualty Clearing Station on 11 April, then evacuated through No. 5 General Hospital at Rouen, Military Hospital at Boscombe and the Canadian Convalescent Hospital at Epsom. After recovery he was posted through the Quebec Regimental Depot and taken on strength of the 10th Reserve Battalion on 6 June 1918. He returned to Canada aboard S.S. Olympic in January 1919 and was discharged at Montreal effective 7 February 1919 on demobilization.
