Catherine Edith Smith served during the First World War as a Nursing Sister with the Canadian Army Medical Corps in Canada. She was appointed to commissioned rank on 24 September 1917. Her medical records document treatment for metatarsalgia in the summer of 1918 and influenza in December 1918. She was struck off strength on 17 January 1919 during general demobilization.
