John Hector Good was born at Cornwall, Ontario, on 19 January 1903. Before the Second World War he worked as a clerk and had served for about four months with the 10th Medium Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, in the Non-Permanent Active Militia. He enlisted for active service at Montreal on 19 February 1940 as D-91953. He served overseas from August 1940 until June 1945, principally in the United Kingdom, first with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and later with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He qualified as a Storeman Trade Group C and served as a Craftsman with the RCEME. He was discharged at Montreal South, Quebec, on 27 July 1945 on demobilization, with the rank of Craftsman. John Hector Good died on 27 May 1948.

Notes
Before active service, served about four months with the 10th Medium Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, Non-Permanent Active Militia. He completed Grade 8 and spoke English and French. His civilian trade was recorded as clerk; his occupational-history form also noted mixed-farming experience in Ontario and an interest in poultry farming after the war. He reported typhoid fever in 1917 without sequelae. At enlistment his medical examination recorded a height of 5 ft 5 in, weight 177 lb, chest 39 in with 4 in expansion. At discharge he was described as 5 ft 5½ in tall, fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair, with scars on the left knee and left thumb. Service-file package includes an extensive collection of personal photographs and mementos.
