Service Biography

Lauriston Ross Lunan was born at Huntingdon, Quebec, on 28 December 1895 and worked as a farmer. Drafted under the Military Service Act, he attested at Montreal on 18 July 1918 as Private 3087992 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. His service was in Canada. He was discharged at Montreal on 6 February 1919 as part of demobilization.

Notes

Lunan was single, Presbyterian and a farmer. He was born at Huntingdon, Quebec, on 28 December 1895 and lived on Rural Route No. 2, Huntingdon. His mother, Mrs. Margaret Lunan, was his next of kin. He reported no Active Militia membership or previous military/naval service. His 18 July 1918 medical examination recorded height 5 feet 8 inches, weight 155 pounds, chest 32 to 36 inches, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, good physical development and Category A.

Lauriston Ross Lunan was drafted under the Military Service Act, 1917, and attested at Montreal on 18 July 1918 as Private 3087992 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. His surviving file documents Canadian-only service. The casualty/pay record shows him taken on strength on 18 July 1918 and reported on 18 July, with the corresponding Part II orders dated 18 and 20 July. A later entry records leave of absence beginning 18 November 1918 and continuing into the demobilization period. In January 1919 he was ordered to report to the Montreal depot for discharge. He signed his release on 5 February and was officially struck off strength/discharged on 6 February 1919 on demobilization.
