Service Biography

Joseph Daniel Perraw was born at Hemmingford, Quebec, on 6 September 1897. A single Roman Catholic farmer, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and entered the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Montreal on 17 July 1918 as Private 3087786. He transferred the same day to the Canadian Engineers at St. Johns, Quebec, and served in Canada at the Engineer Training Depot, later holding the rank of Sapper. He was formally struck off strength at St. Johns on 15 January 1919 on demobilization.

At calling up Perraw was recorded as a single Roman Catholic farmer from Hemmingford, Quebec. He was 5 ft 5 in tall, weighed 124 lb, and had a chest measurement of 32-35 in with 3 in expansion. His complexion was medium, eyes blue and hair dark brown; his physical development was recorded as good.
