Service Biography
Uldege Payant was born at St-Stanislas-Koska, Quebec, on 21 September 1893. A married Roman Catholic weaver living at Valleyfield, Quebec, he was drafted under the Military Service Act and joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force for active service at Montreal on 23 August 1918 as Private 3157311. He sailed from Montreal aboard H.M.T. Saturnia on 30 August and served in England with the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion. During the influenza epidemic he experienced two documented bouts of influenza and was treated at 2nd London General Hospital, Canadian Convalescent Hospital at Bear Wood, and No. 12 Canadian General Hospital at Bramshott. He returned to Canada in 1919 and was discharged at Montreal on 4 July 1919 on demobilization.

Drafted under the Military Service Act, Uldege Payant joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force for active service at Montreal on 23 August 1918 as Private 3157311. He embarked from Montreal aboard H.M.T. Saturnia on 30 August and disembarked at Liverpool on 17 September, then served in England with the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion. He had two documented influenza episodes: the first from late October through early December 1918, including treatment at 2nd London General Hospital and convalescence at Bear Wood, and a second episode at No. 12 Canadian General Hospital, Bramshott, from 23 December 1918 to 14 January 1919. He was struck off strength of the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion on proceeding to Canada in June 1919 and was discharged at Montreal on 4 July 1919 on demobilization.
