He joined the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment at Montreal on 7 June 1918 as Private 3081193. His service was in Canada. He was struck off strength as a deserter at Montreal effective 27 June 1918; the action was subsequently authorized by a Court of Inquiry.
