Errol James Quinn was born at Huntingdon, Quebec, on 26 April 1893. A single Roman Catholic farmer living at Cabri, Saskatchewan, he was formally enlisted at Regina on 11 November 1917 under the Military Service Act as Private 3356241 with the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment, Canadian Expeditionary Force. After being apprehended as a defaulter in September 1918, he joined at Regina and served in Canada. He was struck off strength at Moose Jaw on 10 February 1919 on demobilization.

At calling up he was 5 ft 11 in tall, with a fully expanded chest of 38 in and 3 in expansion, fair complexion, grey eyes and black hair. The September 1918 Medical History Sheet records weight 170 lb, chest 35–38 in and good physical development. It records previous pleurisy and pneumonia treated in hospital from December 1916 until about the beginning of May 1917. Additional handwritten descriptive wording on that medical sheet is not fully secure and is not expanded beyond what can be read confidently.

Drafted under the Military Service Act and formally enlisted at Regina on 11 November 1917 as Private 3356241 with the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment, Canadian Expeditionary Force. After being recorded as a defaulter apprehended on 6 September 1918, he physically joined at Regina on 11 September 1918; his Casualty Form says service reckoned from 12 September 1918. The personnel casualty card records an attachment beginning 15 October 1918 and an extension to 15 November 1918. He served in Canada and was struck off strength at Moose Jaw on 10 February 1919 on demobilization.
