Joseph Pinsonneault was born on 15 March 1895 at Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, Quebec. A barber and Roman Catholic, he was single and living at Sainte-Barbe, Quebec, when drafted under the Military Service Act. He joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Montreal on 24 August 1918 and went overseas to England, where he served with Canadian reserve and depot units. After hospital treatment in England in 1919, he returned to Canada and was discharged at Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 31 August 1919 following demobilization. He died in Montreal on 15 November 1962.

At enlistment he was described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 118 pounds, with a 32-inch minimum and 36-inch maximum chest measurement, dark complexion, gray eyes and black hair. His physical development was recorded as good. The Medical History Sheet records brown hair, but both the recruit form and discharge certificate record black hair.
Additional Service Notes
Joseph Pinsonneault was drafted under the Military Service Act and joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Montreal, Quebec, on 24 August 1918 as a Private with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. He embarked aboard HMT Saturnia on 30 August and disembarked at Liverpool, England, on 17 September 1918. He served in England with the 10th and 23rd Canadian Reserve Battalions, later passing through the 1st Quebec Regimental Depot and N Wing, Canadian Concentration Camp. He was admitted to No. 11 Canadian General Hospital at Shorncliffe on 26 April 1919 and discharged from hospital on 14 June. He was struck off strength on proceeding to Canada on 16 August 1919, travelled aboard S.S. Belgic, and was discharged at Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 31 August 1919 following demobilization.
