Service Biography
Walter Demouilfried Scriver was born at Hemmingford, Quebec, on 19 November 1894. A medical student with previous McGill C.O.T.C. experience, he enlisted at Montreal on 8 March 1915 and served overseas with the Canadian Army Medical Corps, principally No. 3 Canadian General Hospital. He served in England and France, was appointed Lance Corporal in March 1916 and promoted Corporal in July. His service included treatment for tonsillitis, appendicitis and enteric illness. On 3 May 1917 he was discharged from the Canadian Expeditionary Force at London after being appointed to a commission in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve as Surgeon Probationer.
