The unfortunate distinction of being the first Canadian aviator whilst fighting among the clouds on the Italian front belongs to Second Lieut. James Alexander M. Robertson Royal Flying Corps, son of Mrs. J. M. H. Robertson of 483 Rosyln avenue, Westmount, Montreal, and of the late head of the James Robertson Company.

The British war office recently announced to Mrs. Alex. Woods, of Monteral, aunt of the young flyer, who is now a resident of Bexhill-on-sea, England, that a message had been dropped in the British lines from an enemy aeroplane to the effect that Lieut. Robertson, who was reported missing on December 8 is now safe and a prisoner of war. This information was supplemented the other day, writes a London correspondent by a telegram received by Mr. D. Oliver, manager of the Bank of Montreal, Waterloo Place, London, from Lieut. Robertson from the officers camp, Saltzbad, Lower Austria to the following effect: Am well. Send aviation cap, size 7 1/2 , military leather belt, linen, clothes and food. Jas. Robertson.”
