Guards Enter Game Tonight At Top Form
Men Have Been Working Diligently Since First Practice and are in Better
Shape Than Professionals--The Probable Lineup
The members of the Grenadier Guards hockey squad had their final workout
yesterday morning and will go into the game tonight at the top of their
form, following two weeks strenuous practice. The men have been working
diligently since their first workout and as far as form goes should have it
on the players of the professional teams.
It is probable that every player on the local professional teams will turn
out, but the chances are the newcomers will do the bulk of the playing as
it will give the management of the [teams] an opportunity to size their squads.
A Toronto despatch this morning says that Keats, the promising Copper
Country player, who will be with the Torontos this season, left last night
for Montreal, where he will take part in the patriotic game tonight. He
will play for the Grenadier Guards against the All-Star aggregation from
the Canadiens and Wanderers.
Bert Lindsay and Skinner Poulin will make their initial appearance on a
local team, while the other newcomers, Arbour and Matte, will be used by
the Canadiens. Gordie Roberts and Jack Laviolette will be the only players
who figured on the local teams a year ago, who will not figure in tonight's
line-up.
Art Ross has devoted a great deal of time to coaching the Guards team, and
has them in pretty good shape. Included in the line-up will be several
players who have earned honors in the Ontario Association as amateurs. The
match will be refereed by Johnny Brennan with Cooper Smeaton, as judge of
play. The suggested free shot rule will likely be tried out in this match.
The probable line-up to start with will be:
Grenadiers. All-Stars

Ekers....................Defence................S. Cleghorn
Wood....................Defence................Corbeau
Mowat...................Forwards..............H. Hyland
___own?...............Forwards..............O. Cleghorn

Others to be used by the Guards will be O'Hara and Badgley as well as some
of the Ontario players.
