Mrs. Milton H. Brown of Burke received a letter on Monday from her brother, Duncan Johnston, who is a patient in a Red Cross hospital in Griesson, Germany. The letter was dated September 15, and bore the sad news that his condition was no better, he being under treatment for lung and heart ailments. He says that he is receiving the best of care however, and on that score has no complaint. Mr. Johnston went to Europe in the early months of the war with the Canadian contingent and about two years ago was taken prisoner and confined in the military barracks in Griesson until last August, when he was removed to the Red Cross hospital. An effort is being made to secure his release from the hospital and permit him to go to Switzerland, where it is believed the change would prove beneficial. Government officials have interested themselves in the matter and his relatives in this section hope that their efforts may prove successful.
