Uno Park (excerpt)
The first Uno Park boy to give his life in the service of his King and country was Pte. George Harland, the news of whose death on July 18th, only reached here on Friday last. Pte. Harland enlisted with the gallant 48th Highlanders at Montreal at the commencement of the war, and had been in the thick of the fight almost from the first until the time of his death, with the First Canadian Contingent. Several friends of the young soldier here with whom he corresponded regularly, had been unable to get word from him for some time, and had begun to fear the worst when the announcement arrived.
