Letter from W.E. Thomas

Mrs. Thomas is in receipt of letter from Lance-Corp. W. E. Thomas, from France, dated Dec. 18, 27 and 31.
He mentions letters received from local friends and parcels containing socks, tobacco, etc. He says Fat and he had a great time in their billet opening all the parcels and during the night they had to “stand-to” to drive the rats away, that also wanted a change of diet.
Angus and he had managed, in spite of the rain, to keep from getting colds. They were still together and hoped to continue so.
He had seen Earl Bilow who had come back from the Hospital.
He tells of how they had a “Merry Xmas” and a spread of roast pork, apple sauce, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, pudding, etc.
Cheerfulness, and a sure conviction that everything will come out all right, are the prevailing features of Billy's letters.
