Across the Sea
The Borden Battery, of which Major Eddie Holland is in command, has safely landed in England, and will soon, if not already, be on the firing line. The battery is some sixty strong, and about fifty of the members being from Temiskaming, many prominent athletes being amongst the number. Jack Oswald and “Monty” Montgomery, two former base-ball rivals, are now working together on the battery, we understand. Major Holland was awarded the Victoria Cross, for personal bravery during the Boer War, and if given the opportunity his company will surely give a good account of themselves when pitted against the Germans.
