Uno Park
On the evening previous to the departure of Sergeant Frank Parker and Private Roy Scott for Niagara and the front an informal farewell gathering took place at the former's home. During the evening the soldiers were brought to the centre of the assembly on the lawn where a short address was given by Mr. R. Parker on behalf of the community wishing the boys success and a safe return also charging them to do their duty at all times in such a manner as to be an honor to their country and those at home. On behalf of the citizens of Uno Park they were then asked to accept, as an appreciation of their act a small gift, whereupon the Misses Ombra and Carrie Scott came forward and fastened to each a handsome wristwatch. After some hearty singing and expressions of good wishes the assembly dispersed. Friends and relatives present from New Liskeard were Mrs. W. McKnight, Miss Hayes, Mr. Ross, Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Ferguson, and Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Evans.
An assembly of a similar nature was held at the home of Pte. D. Rutherford, when a number of young men of the Milberta Athletic Association presented their soldier friend with a splendid luminous face wrist watch. A large crowd of Uno Park and Milberta people were at the station Monday morning for a final send-off, and three rousing cheers were given for the brave lads as the train pulled out. All the friends present felt sorry so see the boys leaving.
