Wesley Dynes Injured

Mr. Roy Grills is in receipt of a letter from Wesley Dynes, a former New Liskeard boy who enlisted with a Western Battalion. Wes says that he is now in a Hospital in England suffering from shock and paralysis, caused by his proximity to an immense German shell when it exploded within the British lines. The shock was so great that Private Dynes was thrown a considerable distance and had to be removed to the base hospital at once. Shortly after he was forwarded to the sea coast for transfer to England. Here he was disappointed in being left behind, as the hospital ship was over-crowded. This ship proved to be the hospital ship which was sunk by the Germans, when so many wounded soldiers and nurses lost their lives, so that Wes considers himself as having been very fortunate in being crowded off when he was. He hopes to be around again in due course.
