Dear People:-
Received mother's basket yesterday afternoon and many thanks for it. We haven't eaten it yet but are keeping it for tomorrow.
Steele is away for New Years so I am left in charge. There are only about 5 of us though and there isn't much to do. I don't think they are going to serve us out a New Year's dinner here tomorrow but I am invited out for dinner at night so I guess I wont starve.
Captain Pinkerton invited Harvey Davidson and myself to a skating party held by a girl friend of his last night so of course we went and had a dandy time. The people had a great house and evidently lots of money but they were very nice and made us feel quite at home.
Euart had a dose of the grippe and is at the hospital. However he will likely b e out either today or tomorrow.
We were just about three hours late coming down on Tuesday and had to stand most of the time but I wasn't nearly as tired as when we had to go back in the morning. Write soon. Love John
Steel may be Thomas Steele.
