Letters From the Front

Dated: March 25, 1917

St. Thomas  Mar 25/17

Dear People:-

     At last we are warned for overseas and this time for sure.  Some of the fellows left yesterday for their last leave but we don’t go until the end of this week.  They are not giving us very long – only three days and I will likely get home on Thursday and have to come back on Saturday night.  We do not know for sure when we will leave but it will likely be the first week in April.

     Needless to say everyone was in high glee yesterday when we heard the news and I don’t think there is really a man in the battalion who is not glad that we are going across at last.

      Of course I know there will be a lot of people at home who will hate to see us leave but we have been training in Canada now for a year and that is longer than usual.

     I will let you know what day I will come home later in the week.  I think I am pretty well fixed for clothes and socks etc so you don’t need to worry about that now.

     Will close now and will drop you a card early in the week.
