Ten Bodies Found on Lens Front, Captured by Germans at Hill 70, Throats Cut

Toronto Star

This may have been an unconfirmed wartime rumour.   All of the men were in fact originally with the 129th Wentworth Battalion, and were subsequently sent to the 87th Battalion when the 129th was broken up at the front for reinforcements.  Additionally, all are reported killed or missing at Hill 70 between August 14 - 16th, 1917.  Seven of the ten men are remembered on the Vimy Memorial, the other three have marked graves.

All of the men named are listed on the Vimy Memorial, except for Capt. Alexander Solomon.
