BACK FROM THE WAR

Don Bannerman is Invalided Home to Recover from the effect of his Wound.

Another one of Banff's sons -- a son of whom not only his parents but the citizens generally are proud -- arrived home from the wars Monday night, bearing the scars of battle.

When the news came that Don Bannerman would arrive on the evening train a big crowd of his fellow citizens gathered at the depot to welcome him. Among the first to greet him and grasp his hand as he stepped from the coach was Sup't S. J. Clarke and members of the office staff, after which the young veteran was allowed to go to him mother who was waiting with other members of the family. Don's hand was nearly wrung from his shoulder before he could make his way to W. Warren's car and, with his mother, be driven to his home, followed by cars containing the members of the impromptu reception committee.

Don was wounded in the head on January 4th while rushing to the aid of a comrade who had fallen beneath a sniper's bullet, and he is still suffering from his wound. At first he was officially reported mortally wounded, but upon examination the report was changed to seriously wounded. He has spent the interim in the hospitals, being finally invalided home where the bracing air of the mountains and the tender care of his parents will, it is hoped, speedily effect a permanent cure.
